To Those Who Think I'm Being Too Hard On NASA

by Joe?Pulcinella

"Gee, Joe, NASA Is the one government agency who truly believes in its mission so lay off them!"

Not every cheerleader for a government program necessarily loves all big-spending programs. That would be a generalization. However, the one thing I can generalize on is that after a period of time, often a very short one, the program itself and not the mission becomes the focus of fierce competition and self-defense. The personal objectives behind those who live off NASA are much more important than the noble face that's put forward to the public. Still don't believe me? Check this.

Former astronaut Bill Nelson made the case for NASA.

?Right now we?re at a critical point because NASA has been starved of funds,? Nelson, who is also a legislator, said.

At least they won't go hungry at the awards.

There's a reception to feed 750, with a "carving station with beef and turkey,? coconut fried shrimp, spring rolls, shrimp wrapped with bacon, 5-6 desserts, antipasto plates to include assorted meats, cheeses, grilled vegetables and assorted marinated vegetables, breads. And in case anyone's still hungry, that?s followed by a three-course sit-down dinner.

And that's for EVERY launch. It's actually much worse as the meal is only a small part of the week-long junket centered?around 4-star hotels. I wonder if the at least give thanks to the taxpayers? You gotta watch the video. Bill Nelson gives a first-class performance only a true, lifelong government worker can give. I'd love to see the party budget get halved to see if they cut any of the VIP's off the list as well as the lowly honorees. My guess is they would not.
