Think The USA Patriot Act Doesn't Affect You?

Think again. While perusing title insurance documents for my soon-to-be-new crib, I noticed this little notation;
***UNITED STATES PATRIOT NAME SEARCH***
"XXXX?Developer certifies to XXXX Title Corporation;
THAT IT HAS SEARCHED THE LIST OF SPECIALLY DESIGNATED NATIONALS AND BLOCKED PERSONS MAINTAINED BY THE OFFICE OF FOREIGN ASSETS CONTROL, US DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY, PURSUANT TO EXECUTIVE ORDER 13224 AS AMENDED BY EXECUTIVE ORDER 13268, AND REPORTS THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS WITH RESPECT TO THE NAME(S) LISTED BELOW:
(ME)
(THE MISSUS)
***CLEAR PATRIOT NAME SEARCH***
NOTE: According to the U.S. Department of Treasury, no U.S. person may deal with any Libyan or Iraqi government official, whether their name appears on the list or not."
FEES: $4.00
TAXES: $0.28
TOTAL: $4.28
?I will not quibble, for?the moment, that?I am?being charged $4 to be finked on by a title insurance company to the Feds, nor that I have to pay TAXES on said finking.
And I have not had occasion to have trade with any Libyan or Iraqi officials, despite the admonitions of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, although I thought Iraq's current elected government were the good guys? Uh oh...
And hey, nice to know I'm not yet a "person of interest" to this "executive", since I have to fly on business tomorrow.
But when is this shit going to stop? What GODDAMN BUSINESS is it of the president what I buy, or who I buy it from? Where are they going to end their ceaseless empire building? Clearly not at the threshold of my new home, that's for sure.
And what's wrong with America's developers for not standing up to this crap, the way they bravely stand up in favor of subsidized mortgages for deadbeats??
And where is Governor Corzine on this?!? Oh, OK, guess he'll get right on it from his hospital bed.
Am I angry about this latest Federal intrusion into private, domestic, intrastate commercial matters?
Goddamn right I'm angry!
