Oh, We're Not Serious, Huh?
by Joe?Pulcinella
Just saw this at Raw Story:
"Now that the word 'impeachment' has popped up in DC or elsewhere in the country, how seriously does the administration take those calls?" Perino was asked by a White House correspondent.
"Oh, I didn't even know there was a resolution in the state of Vermont," Perino said. "Is that a monthly occurrence? You know, I don't know. The president and the vice president have served honorably, and I don't think there's any merit to those impeachment claims."
The president gets some sort of threatening letter, email or phonecall everyday and the Secret Service follows up on every one of them. Trust me. The whole story is such an exercise in arrogance that you've got to read it for yourself.
By the way, this should also serve as a great example as to why the 17th Amendment should be repealed. Without it, there would be two Vermont senators filing their own impeachment papers right this very moment or risk being recalled by their state's legislature. But as it is now, the federal government is no longer tied to the states so the Vermont resolution is toothless and the object of ridicule by the White House.
