Can We At Least Shop Around a Little?
by Joe Pulcinella
Costs of building an embassy in Baghdad range from $750 million to $5 billion. Even at the low end (which typically doubles when the government takes on a project), the cost is obscene. Just as a guage, let's compare this to some other pricey items.
The 4-Star Hilton Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City is being sold for a mere $513 million.
Lincoln Financial Field - Home of the Philadlephia Eagles (a huge, union boondoggle): $512 million
Project America cruise ship: $459 million
One Liberty Place (currently Philadelphia's Tallest Building): $185 million
Now tell me again why we need to spend so much to democratize Iraq?
