Iraqi President Kassim Overthrown; Hussein Installed by US!

Ah, newspapers. Love 'em or hate 'em, they're always there and recording whatever they see. Including the triumph of Hussein and his Ba'ath party as dictator of Iraq. And all with the help and blessing of that paragon of all that is good, the government of the United States of America.

Feb 1963 - CIA aids Saddam Hussein and his Ba'ath party in a bloody military coup (in which around 5,000 are estimated killed) which overthrows president Kassim and puts the Ba'ath party into power.

The Center for Cooperative Research is a great site. They dig up history that we all thought was sucked down the memory hole in favor of sanitized, revisionist history.

I have said it before - we made this guy, we have to take responsibility for everything he has done since, especially since he did much of it with our full support. Is it any wonder really, why a thug like Hussein, after getting our uncritical support for so long and even after so much malfeasance, would think he could do no wrong and feel entitled to do whatever he wanted?
