Get Ready for This at Home

The Boston Globe reports of the military's great new processing system that will restore order to Fallujah:

FALLUJAH, Iraq -- The US military is drawing up plans to keep insurgents from regaining control of this battle-scarred city, but returning residents may find that the measures make Fallujah look more like a police state than the democracy they have been promised.

Under the plans, troops would funnel Fallujans to so-called citizen processing centers on the outskirts of the city to compile a database of their identities through DNA testing and retina scans. Residents would receive badges displaying their home addresses that they must wear at all times. Buses would ferry them into the city, where cars, the deadliest tool of suicide bombers, would be banned.

Can someone please tell my I should NOT count on this happeneing soon in the US? The Total Information Awareness system is not going away quietly. By the way, you can sport the spooky TIA "eyeball" logo by going to the TIA Gift Shop.

I don't know, dude. Lots of folks here think this is a sure-fire way to keep them safe.and they'll simply swallow it wholesale. I truly don't think they could identify a totalitarian police-state if it were right under their noses.

Why shouldn't you count on this coming soon to your hometown? Because it won't work.Either it will become a totalitarian, non-working system like "Brazil" or enough people will see it for the dangerous waste it is and abolish it. And trying to create a new country by force, without the ardent desire and taste for liberty of, say, the Revolutionary War-Era US, is also doomed to failure. I don't know why they don't seem to want to understand this.
