Are They Kidding?

by Steve Mastro

The wreckers of free speech are at it again, the FCC says there were complaints about Monday Night Football (they wont say how many comlaints) and ABC folds like a house of cards.

"ABC quickly apologized for the locker room intro. And the NFL called it "inappropriate and unsuitable for our 'Monday Night Football' audience."

Um, are they out of their minds!?!?!  My guess would be that 95% of the audience that watches MNF, women included, thought the vignette was great.  Its also 9PM.

"As for his tenure at the agency, Powell said he'd be around for "a while yet.'I still am having fun. There are still things that are really significantly important to me to complete," he said. "Right now, I just have no plans of going anywhere."

Well isnt that nice, having fun playing God are we?

BZZT! Wrong answer Joe - he has been sent to consolidate control of all communications by the government. The worst part is, he is a smart guy, completely familiar with private-property theories of broadcast spectrum allocation. I once read that he actually believes the best thing from a market point of view would be to simply eliminate licensing and free the airwaves, but he was brought to Washington to put the boot of the state on the neck of free expression, and by God he is going to do that.

Yeah, this guy fancies himself as some sort of superhero sent to Earth to clean it up for us stupid-asses that can't seem to live our lives without screwing up.
