When marchers approached the Garden, a police detective was knocked off his scooter. He was then repeatedly kicked and punched in the head by at least one male demonstrator, the police said.

Thgis is horrible! This is an outrage! Can someone tell me exactly why a cop is riding a scooter?

I saw the "male demonstrator" on the news. The writer of the above quote is indulging in a little dishonesty. The "male demonstrator" who stomped the plainclothes cop was simply an ordinary thug from the 'hood.
