Privatize It!

Anthony Gregory had a great article on on LRC yesterday on some great reasons to favor privatizing roads (unfair parking tickets, to name one).
For just one more example of why government cannot be entrusted with the safety and utility of the roads, read this article, about an unsafe bridge owned by the City of Boston?that was allowed to carry far more than its design or state of repair should have allowed.
And for another reason why quasi-public authorities are an even worse guarantor of proper investment in infrastructure than governments are, read this editorial, about an unneeded NJTPK connector road that is estimated at $400 million (for 6.2 miles of road) that will actually increase the congestion it is intended to alleviate (when what the turnpike really needs is more lanes south of Exit 8A).
