We DO Know Why They Hate Us!

...and so does the Bush Administration.
Of course, there is the ridiculous, neutered 9/11 commission report, blameless and generic so as to?obscure the fact?that the only thing bipartisan about it is a seeming tacit agreement that it would?in no way?be critical of the state.
But Colin Powell, talking to?P.J. O'Rourke in this month's Atlantic Online?gives the game away:
What I find is that people are mad about our policies. They're not necessarily mad at us. And therefore, as policies are successful, attitudes can be changed.
This is the truth, plain and simple. Those angry people lobbing our own jetliners at us do not hate America, or Americans - they hate the policies of our government. Unfortunately, both statist major parties pursue identical foreign policies, yet somehow convince us that we have a choice.
