I think thats my point, the guy did something kinda rude in an "old fart" sort of way - the press vilified him like he was Hitler.
Riordan committed the crime of being an old fey white guy who tried to joke around with a little girl. If you read about the incident (in the gloriously objective press}, it sounds sinister. If you watch the clip, it's an old white guy teasing a little kid as he would one of his grandkids. One of the bloggers on LRC went this route too, sad to say. I wish the press did a better job sniffing out actual bad behavior by politicians.
